We lived at 5710 Phillips Ave for two years and had a great experience. The location is phenomenal — close to shops, restaurants, and cafés, with a nearby bus stop that made commuting to the university easy. Plus, you’re just a short distance from the beautiful Schenley and Frick Parks, which was a huge bonus.
Our apartment was technically in the basement, so we had to be mindful about maintaining good air circulation, but we still got some nice sunlight in the living room. The apartment itself was well maintained, and we didn’t experience any major issues. The building felt very secure, and we appreciated the secured entrance with the keypad and the added window security features that helped us feel safe without compromising comfort.
It was also super convenient having two washers and two dryers in the building, which we could operate either with coins or through a mobile app.
A special shoutout to our landlord, Aaron. He’s a genuinely kind and responsive person, and also firm in the best way — setting clear expectations to ensure everyone in the building feels safe and comfortable. I especially appreciated his flexibility when we signed the lease from overseas — he provided clear documentation, photos, and videos that made the whole process smooth.
Throughout our stay, all maintenance requests were handled promptly and free of charge, even for things other landlords might have billed us for. He always gave us the benefit of the doubt, which we really valued.
Overall, we had a positive and smooth experience living here and would happily recommend it to anyone looking for a safe, well-managed apartment in a fantastic Pittsburgh neighborhood.
