Budgeting for a Rental in Tucson

The rent prices listed online are probably not what you’ll actually pay. Often there are hidden fees like utilities and parking. In Tucson, many places also charge a monthly pest control fee to spray for scorpions. Also remember that upfront, you will need to cover the cost of a security deposit and last month’s rent.

Your rent should only be about 30% of your monthly income. If you’re a student or are just starting your first entry level job and this isn’t feasible, try to stay under at least 50% of your income and be extra careful with your spending. Check out our articles about budgeting and saving money!

If renting your own place is out of budget for you, consider going in on a place with a few friends to save money.

Consider Co-Living

If you’re open to co-living, companies like Tripalink have great offerings in Tucson. You’ll get your own room and the other bedrooms are filled with compatible roommates. The apartments come fully furnished and offer a wide variety of amenities and services, including weekly cleanings.

Tripalink includes the costs of utilities and amenities in their rent so there are no hidden fees. Plus, the average rent price is around $670 a month, a total steal!
